I am writing to complement Barbara of Aegean Thesarus Travel on the amazing trip she put together for my mother and I. I found her through your website, and after reading testimonials, I was confident that using this agency would be key in making everything perfect for our trip. I started emailing with Barbara mid May about my dream trip, a graduation gift from my parents. She was so incredibly helpful in putting together an itinerary that fit perfectly with everything I wanted. She was very patient and thorough, and I felt through every step of the process that she was hearing exactly what I was saying, and that she made every effort to make things perfect. Upon our arrival in Athens, and meeting our taxi transfer (who had to wait on our very late plane!), we could see that everything was going to be seamless and easy. We spent a total of 23 days in Greece, seeing Athens, Sifnos, Santorini, Mykonos, and Naxos. Each taxi transfer, ferry trip, plane ride, and hotel reservation was perfect and incredibly easy, the way a vacation should be. Any problems that arose, we were able to contact Barbara, and she made it just seem to go away, and always had a great solution. I have already recommended her to many people I have met, and cannot stress enough how fantastic she (and everyone else at the agency) is, and how amazing our vacation was. If we had not had her recommendations or aid when we had a ferry situation go awry, I cannot imagine how I would have dealt with figuring out a solution. We were amazed to get a phone call in Mykonos warning us of the fact that the ferries might not be operating and then a follow up phone call listing our options and how to deal with the problem. That simply would not happen if we were dealing with an agency here in Canada. Here the feeling is once you’ve paid your money you’re on your own! The concept of actually keeping track of client problems while they are traveling does not exist. We give Aegean Thesaurus top marks there.
Finally, when we were unhappy with our room in Milos, the fact that you dealt with relocating us quickly and with no question we thought was exemplary.

Everything went perfectly - the transfers, ferry rides and hotels were all excellent. I have to say our favorite was the Vencia Hotel in Mykonos - the staff were very super friendly, and the pool and view were spectacular. Plus the transfers we had in Athens to and from the airport (I think it was the same company) were great - the drivers were so kind and full of information. We felt like we had mini-tours going back and forth to the airport.I have to be honest it was my sister pushing to go to Greece, but I really feel in love with the country (the little we saw of it!), even Athens was great. I wanted to tell you how much we enjoyed the Polydefkis Apartments in Kamari Beach, Santorini. The location was fantastic (very close to everything), Maria (at the front desk) was very friendly and helpful, and the room was very spacious, modern, and clean. It appears that the property has been recently remodeled. Anyway, it was a very nice hotel and we would highly recommend it to others. Thanks for finding such a lovely place for us to stay in Santorini. It was our favorite hotel in Greece.
I'm missing the delicious Greek salads, Gyros, and wonderful breakfast pastries already. I can't wait to return to Greece.

As you know, we had only one little "bump" with the hotel in Rhodes. The response from you office - on a Sunday afternoon, no less - was incredible...very impressive! Thanks to all of you for taking care of that problem for us. (I am attaching a picture of the "entrance" to our hotel room, which actually was the better part of the accommodations. The room was a ways from the main hotel and truly uninhabitable.)
On the other hand, the hotel you put us in in Santorini - the Anteliz Hotel - was "to-die-for"! Thanks ever so much!!

We are back home after our wonderful vacation. Everything went perfectly. We loved all of the hotels and the islands. These islands were not crowded with tourists and we really enjoyed our holiday. I especially would like to thank you for recommending Zalonis apartments in Tinos. Theresa and Yorgo provided wonderful hospitality. Each day Theresa would surprise us with a special traditional Greek treat. We had home made honey balls, cake, rice pudding and even a snack one day of ouzo, meat, cheese and olives. She was truly a beautiful lady who made us feel very welcome. Our favourite town was Batsi. The view from our apartment was amazing. I think the food in the tavernas was the best we have ever enjoyed. The beach was excellent for swimming.
We loved the quiet of these islands. It was nice to hear mostly Greek and very little English. It helped me to learn to speak a few more Greek words.

We loved George Kokotis’ cab drivers – what a wonderfully professional job he does. The Adrian was great – we loved breakfast in the shadow of the Acropolis each morning. Our room was tiny, but that did not matter as we spent all our time on our spectacular deck overlooking the caldera. We were simply amazed with your work. Within two hours, you presented a well documented Schedule along with a full scale itinerary and a complete set of travel vouchers for all accommodation, transportation and transfers! And every detail of the trip went off without a hitch! We just turned up at the appropriate times and everything fell into place. Even every single boat and hydrofoil was on time!!! We also have to mention "world famous" George and his taxi, right on time at 4 a.m. for our Athens departure!
You ARE the Greece and Greek Island specialists and no request seems either too big or too small for your immediate attention and first class service.
Sifnos, Milos, Paros and Santorini.... all not to be missed. We were thrilled with your choice of hotels, each carefully located near a beautiful beach as requested; the Villa at Faros on Sifnos, Villa Notos at Adamas on Milos, Hotel Marinero at Naoussa on Paros and the Rose Bay Hotel at Kamari on Santorini. Carrying on to Athens, the Adrian Hotel in the Plaka was perfecly located for sightseeing and easy access to the Acropolis and such great restaurants. We particularly loved the Adrian's traditional Greek breakfast on the outdoor patio with a view to the Acropolis.

I did not know this person, but they were so impressed with your arrangements, that I contacted you, explaining our thoughts for our planned April, 2004 vacation to Greece, and asking for your suggestions. Over the next few months, we e-mailed our thoughts, and the plan was modified several times. The final result exceeded our wildest expectations. The itinerary you came up with could not have been better. Athens, Chania, Heraklion, Santorini and Naxos each offered a different character. The hotels you selected offered exceptional hospitality, in addition to value, cleanliness, service and location. You seemed to know exactly what we were looking for. You also seemed to know just the right mix of sightseeing and relaxation. We rented a car in Crete, and drove through small towns in Western Crete, and got caught behind a herd of goats. In Naxos we were invited to a Christening at the taverna in the Alkyoni Beach Hotel. In Athens we took your suggestion and contacted George, the Famous Taxi Driver. In short, we experienced much of your country then we could have ever expected to. Our only regret was that we could not spend more days and travel to Sifnos and thank you personally. The Electra Palace in Athens was beautiful and elegant and the service was terrific. We had a view of the Acropolis and Parthenon from our 6th floor balcony. We were even there during a full moon!! The Katikies Hotel in Santorini was like something out of a fairy tale! It was worth every penny we spent. We had champagne every morning with breakfast, which was served on our balcony overlooking a private pool and the caldera. We were treated like royalty. The Katikies was a very special experience. Dear Barbara, I just wanted to let you know that we are home from our trip to your beautiful country, and to thank you for making the arrangements. All the bookings went well. The taxi service is Athens was very dependable, when we got off the plane, there was a taxi driver strike, so we didn't know what to expect, and were relieved when we saw our name on a card, we would have had much difficulty using public transportation to find our hotel! The Jason Prime hotel is beautiful, with excellent service and breakfast. We loved the islands and came home with a nice tan. Naxos was a great choice for us, and we traveled all over with the car. Our daughter's wedding on Santorini was lovely, and we also enjoyed that island, we rode the donkeys up the hill several times! The Galini hotel had a perfect view of the sunset and the staff/owners were very helpful and friendly. We were very satisfied with all your bookings and the only minor problem with any, was that we didn't see the transfer person at the ferry on Santorini, but saw one with the hotel name on a card, and paid him 10 Euros to take us to the hotel as he wouldn't take the voucher. The only other problem (for your info for future bookings!) was that the beds in our room at the Astir of Naxos were extremely hard, though the hotel was lovely with large rooms and a balcony. Just wanted to touch base with you and give you many, many thanks for all your work and effort put into helping me put our vacation together. You and your agency were terrific. We had such a great time and it was wonderful getting to meet you in person. My only regret is that we realized to late that we didn't get a photo of the three of us together! Your island home of Sifnos was fantastic. We so enjoyed getting to know people and the little town of Vathy was so peaceful and beautiful. Do you know anything about the new resort being built there? I hope you have had a good holiday season. I guess things are winding down for you now. I would love to come back and visit again. Thank you Mark, I plan to return to Athens within the year and will book again with you for reservations. You may want to recommend Kalamata as a not to be missed vacation destination. It is unbelievably beautiful and has a very active nightlife with many clubs and bars along the coastal road. A great hotel I found was the Byzantio right in town with very reasonable rates and clean lovely rooms. And I would recommend visiting Mani, an area with amazing scenic views and many lovely guesthouses and small hotels. But you probably know all this. Hello Giorgos! I got back into the States on July 14th....and now I'm back to work again. I wanted to send you an email to say "thank you," for all that you did for me and my cousin Joy. We had an amazing time in Greece and Rome....it was so much more than I had ever expected! My favorite island was Santorini, and the people at La Perla were wonderful. We had no problems with any of our hotels or travel while in Greece. Once we develop our 10 rolls of film, I will send you a picture of Joy and I enjoying our Greece vacation! Mark, Thank you for planning a wonderful trip for us! Everything was great! (There was a little hiccup at the Oia Mare with the rooms, but in the end it all worked out). We had a fantastic time (loved Folegandros the most -- great people at the hotel there) and, of course, Santorini. For those travelers you have that like hiking, you can tell them about the fantastic trail that goes all the way from Oia to Fira over the hilltops. The only thing we may have needed and I will remember for next time is the transfers to the hotel. Coming into Mykonos- Taxis are very tough to get there. Dear Giorgos, We have returned from our trip to Greece and I wanted to thank you once again for all the planning you did. I was sorry not to meet you while we were in Sifnos but you had gone to Athens and returned after we left. I hope you got the bottle of wine that Zefi, from Saga Hotel in Poros sent to you. They are absolutely delightful people and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay with them. If you have people going to Poros I highly recommend the Saga...Zefi & her husband Takis make all their guest feel at home. And their Monday night BBQs with food and dancing are great! The Windmill Bella Vista on your island of Sifnos was also a gem. We found Giorgos to be a great guy and the accommodation was super. We did however meet some older people who had booked through you that didn't want to drive and had no transportation and the walk to Apollonia would have been too strenuous. They were very disappointed. I believe they were going to try and find something in Apollonia. I guess you can't please everyone. We loved the quiet "remoteness" of the Windmill Bella Vista but I would not recommend it for people who are not active and adventurous. It was perfect for us and one of the highlights of our trip. You live on a most beautiful island and I hope to return some day. We had dinner one night at "The Beautiful Sifnos" right next to your agency, and he said in the 20 some odd years he had worked there he had never met anyone from Alaska. We had a nice chat with him and the Greek/Australian gal from the museum across the street! The people are wonderful in Greece. The Lilia in Piraeus was very pleasant. It was perfect for a Piraeus stay. Close to good tavernas and the marina. We did cancel one night there as Zefi got us reservations in Porto Helli. The Armada Festival in Spetses was on Sat the 7th. All worked out and Lilia refunded our money. The Armada fireworks show was spectacular! What a great way to spend my 50th birthday! We were a bit disappointed in the Galini Hotel. I think this may have been because of my own imagination and the pictures that you see in all the brochures. "The perfect balcony with the perfect view of the perfect sunset!" The owner/ manager put us in a bigger more private accommodation up the street and it was very nice but just not what I had mind for the grand finale of Santorini. But again, we found all the people to be warm, gracious and very friendly. In closing, I just want to thank you again for all your help in planning this "once in a lifetime", let's hope not, trip... I would like to thank you, and in particular Giorgos Venios, for the helpful and efficient way in which you arranged my family holiday in Sifnos and Athens. The Margarita apartment in Faros which you suggested was superb, as was the Hotel Attalos in Athens (though in different ways!). You were very good at responding quickly to my emails and all the bookings you made for us were exactly right. I must confess that I have a low opinion of most travel agents in the UK - they either just sell you a holiday out of a catalogue, or make the minimum effort to book flights and cars not worrying about the poor traveller who has to deal with wrong cars , late arrivals, bad connections, wrong terminals etc. Aegean Thesaurus is an example of what a travel agent can be: a big help, with local knowledge which can make a good holiday a reality. Dear Mark, This is just to let you know that we were fully satisfied with all arrangements you made for us. Sifnos is a wonderful holiday destination and Faros, by our opinion, was the very best choice as a base from which to explore it. Margarita studios were just what we wanted. They are nicely located, our room was one of the best (4 and 5 would always have my clear preference) and we thoroughly enjoyed the terrace. I found that your descriptions had always been very accurate and would like to thank you again for having helped us. Now we are very unfortunately back to Swiss rainy and cool weather. Mark I can't thank you enough for such a wonderful vacation to the islands! We had such a lovely time! We picked up the travel documents with no problem. The ferry rides were not so pleasant, but everything else was perfect! Naxos was so beautiful and Hotel Alkyoni was perfect...we didn't want to leave. When we arrived in Santorini however, we were amazed by the beauty! We had such an amazing time there too. Hi Giorgos We arrived back in Singapore yesterday to receive a letter from you with George's drivers license inside. Thank you so much for doing this for us. We also would like to thank you sincerely, for the wonderful holiday you mapped out for us and for the numerous changes you made to our itinerary due to ferry strikes etc. Our family voted this holiday as the "Best Ever family holiday" and much of that can be credited to your planning Giorgos!!!!! We loved the studio apartment of Maria's on Sifnos and felt that it worked well for us as a family and Maria was such a charming hostess. The Naxos Beach 2 was a great hotel and we loved the proximity to the wonderful beaches of Naxos. The apartments were spacious and well fitted out and we loved the pool at that hotel. Nikos Villas was absolutely tops! Once again we loved the area it was in, the employers and Nikos himself were charming and the room was exquisite with unbelievable views!! Probably the best hotel of its kind we have stayed in. We shall certainly be back in Greece in the near future. Sifnos won our hearts and we heard lots of positive comments about Crete, so maybe there one day soon too. Bravo Matt for the great Greek inside that your site provides, me and my wife are both more than happy after a three weeks trip to the Greek islands: we follow some of your suggestions, 1) The bookings by Mark Fitzpatrick of Aegean Thesaurus were perfect, 2) Sifnos is also our favorite place in Greece, and hopefully your word will not be spread as much as to destroy it with more visitors that the place and the people can handle... I am an architect, and have designed what I believe are small and sensitive hotels at remote places in Chile, in Atacama and Patagonia, in the southern tip of America. In Apollonia the representative was very helpful to me and PATIENT, even when I know some of the questions I asked, he must get tired of answering. My accomodation was all very satisfactory: I loved my breakfast on the balcony at Mosha in Kamares, Everything was good about Areti's in Vathy - she is such a warm person, as is her son, Manolis whose English is good and acted as interpreter for his Mum - in Apollonia the hike to Pension Kouki IS steep, but the view is worth it, the hot water is actually Hot and all members of the family are very hard workers. Attention - Giorgos. Just a short note to thank you very much for the accommodation you arranged for us in Athens, Santorini & Sifnos. All places were of excellent standard and we were very comfortable - the people at Geronti pension are especially nice, and made us feel very much at home. I think we were in the No. 1 location on the island - the view from the veranda across the valley and out to Anti Paros and the other islands is really superb. I didn't get the opportunity to call in and see you personally - I don't really have an excuse for that. If Julie is still with you (the chap I spoke to when we arrived said she had gone back to the States, but I didn't ask if it was a permanent arrangement or not) please thank her also for her efforts. You are very professional at what you do, and very honest. When you buy over the Internet you take your chances, but I was very comfortable in my dealings with you. I didn't even ask for the refund for the ferry tickets - your lass chased me along the street to get me to come back so she could return the money to me.
